On January 23, JCIE/Japan’s Managing Director and Chief Program Officer Toshihiro Menju was the featured expert for a Foreign Press Center Japan briefing on Japan’s population decline and immigration policy. The briefing highlighted Japan’s unprecedented low birthrate, aging population, and population decline, and Mr. Menju was invited to be the briefer as one of the first experts to have sounded the alarm regarding Japan’s declining population and the need to promote the importance of a “multicultural coexistence society.” In the briefing, Mr. Menju suggests guidelines for Japan’s immigration policy and programs to support foreign residents.
