Six legislative and party staffers from Japan visited Washington DC and various locations in Oklahoma and Colorado as part of the 2018 Japanese delegation of the US-Japan Young Political Leaders Exchange Program, which is co-sponsored by JCIE and the American Council for Young Political Leaders (ACYPL).

In Washington, their agenda includes meetings with government officials, political campaign committees, policy experts, and business representatives. Topics for discussion include US-Japan security and trade relations, US politics, campaigns and political communications in the US, and women in politics.

The group then headed to Oklahoma City, Lawton, and Norman for meetings with local politicians and private sector representatives, where they learned about local-national political relations and learned about Oklahoma’s efforts on technology promotion, disaster preparedness, and other issues. They then headed to Colorado, where meetings focused on city and county governance, federal-local relations, and the US military academies.
