JCIE and the National Academy of Medicine brought together around 20 American and Japanese officials and experts in Washington DC for the 2023 US-Japan Global Health Dialogue. The discussion built on the global health outcomes of the May 2023 G7 Summit in Hiroshima, Japan, and offered an opportunity to examine potential areas of US-Japan collaboration on how to advance resilient, equitable, and sustainable universal health coverage (UHC); how to ensure timely and equitable access to medical countermeasures (MCMs) in times of crises; and how to ensure surge capacity to respond to future pandemics.
This meeting was held as part of JCIE’s US-Japan Global Health Dialogue, an initiative launched in 2017 to foster continued collaboration between the US and Japan on salient global health issues.
