The World Bank and the Government of Japan organized a major conference with JCIE in Tokyo on December 5–6, convening close to 200 health ministers and high-level representatives from around the world. Discussions were based on a set of case studies of Japan and other countries’ experience with universal health coverage. With a one-day roundtable followed by a high-level forum with policymakers, participants shared lessons from Japan and other countries’ health systems and examined the financial and human resources aspects of universal health coverage.
