KIM GOULD ASHIZAWA

Kim Gould Ashizawa joined JCIE/USA as a senior associate in 1999. Previously, she worked for the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership (CGP) from 1991 to 1999, where she assisted in establishing the US operations of the newly created fund and oversaw the intellectual exchange grant-making program. Her background also includes work as a research assistant for the US-Japan Management Studies Center of the Wharton School of Business in the early 1980s.  Currently, she is spearheading the US portion of JCIE’s work on Healthy Aging in Asia and the women leaders program, and oversees communications. She has edited and copyedited numerous research publications for JCIE, served as lead researcher on JCIE’s Philanthropy and Reconciliation project, and has done extensive translation work.

Ms. Ashizawa received a BA in international relations from the University of Pennsylvania and an MA in East Asian studies from Columbia University, focusing on modern Japanese history. She studied at Sophia University in 1993, and at Columbia University’s Reid Hall Program and the University of Paris-Nanterre in 1993–1994.
