Emi Inaoka
2024

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (the Global Fund) established its Health Financing Department in 2021 to facilitate the mobilization of domestic financing in combatting infectious diseases within implementing countries. This Friends of the Global Fund, Japan (FGFJ) issue brief, prepared by Global Fund Health Financing Senior Advisor Emi Inaoka, examines the Global Fund’s approaches to supporting domestic resource mobilization and ensuring sustainable financing for infectious disease programs. This brief also recognizes the expectations on how the recently announced “Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Knowledge Hub” in Japan will promote coordination of health financing data across agencies and build capacity for health financing policy implementation.
