KYOKO ISHIGAKI

Chief Program Officer, JCIE Japan

Ms. Ishigaki joined JCIE in April 2025 and serves as the Deputy Assistant Director of the Friends of the Global Fund, Japan. She began her career as a nurse in clinical medicine and later earned a master’s degree in international health. Following that, she joined what is now known as the AIDS Clinical Center (ACC) of the Japan Institute for Health Security, where she mainly worked on cooperative study management overseas, while providing support for patient treatment in Japan. Overseas, she worked on a program in Vietnam for the formation of a research center on emerging and reemerging infectious diseases (MEXT Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research), and then took up posts as a health administrator at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Afghanistan and South Sudan offices. After returning to Japan, she completely changed her career course and worked for a private publishing company. She was initially responsible for sales, including overseas publishing rights sales and new business development. Eventually, she served as CEO for one of the subsidiaries of the publishing group from 2020 to 2023. 

Ms. Ishigaki completed an undergraduate degree at the School of Health Sciences and Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, University of Tokyo, and has a master’s degree from the Department of Human Ecology, Graduate School of International Health, Faculty of Medicine, University of Tokyo.
