US-Japan Parliamentary Exchange
The US-Japan Parliamentary Exchange Program brings members of the US Congress and Japanese Diet to one another’s countries for a series of intensive dialogues with leaders from a broad range of fields. Participants in the US-Japan Parliamentary Exchange Program have risen to influential positions in their respective countries with an enhanced understanding of the US-Japan relationship.
US-Japan Young Political Leaders Exchange
In 1973, JCIE and the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) jointly launched the US-Japan Young Political Leaders Exchange Program, an annual bilateral exchange program designed to expose young leaders of each country to the politics and policymaking processes of the other country and to enhance their understanding of US-Japan relations.

Hiroshima G7 Global Health Task Force
In 2023, Japan will host the G7 Summit in Hiroshima, the “City of Peace.” Ahead of the Summit, JCIE has established the Hiroshima G7 Global Health Task Force under the Executive Committee on Global Health and Human Security to make recommendations to the Japanese government on the G7 agenda and concrete measures to be promoted for global health in the context of the rapidly changing global health architecture.
JWLI-JCIE/USA COVID-19 Joint Philanthropic Initiative
JCIE has partnered with the Japanese Women’s Leadership Initiative and the Fish Family Foundation to facilitate small grants to nonprofit organizations in Japan to help them respond to the needs arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Development Assistance for Health Special Commission
With just 10 more years until the Sustainable Development Goals’ (SDG) target year of 2030, there is a pressing need for Japan to increase the development impact of its global health assistance and make global health funding more strategic. This commission aims to reassess how to utilize Japan’s ODA in a more strategic manner to advance global health, adapt to structural shifts in the development field, and increase the efficacy and impact of its funding.

An online course for Congressional staff to bring them up-to-date on the US-Japan relationship and its importance in the US’s approach to Asia.
COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for WHO
JCIE has teamed up with the UN Foundation and the WHO Foundation as the Japan partner of the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for WHO. This fund enables Japanese companies, organizations, and individuals to donate to support the work of the WHO, CEPI, UNICEF, WFP, and other international organizations in their fight against the pandemic.
Australia Parliamentary Fellowship
This program selects Japanese post-graduate students who have shown a strong interest in Australia-Japan relations for internships in the office of a member of Australia’s Parliament, where they conduct research under the guidance of an ANU professor. Fellows from Australia are also selected to intern in the Japanese Diet and carry out research with the support of a professor.
