3rd US-Japan Global Health Dialogue | Strengthening Partnership on Global Health

The 3rd US-Japan Global Health Dialogue brought together nearly 50 senior government officials, legislators, health experts and leaders from international organizations to discuss what they can do together to advance health security around the world. Participants discussed international financing mechanisms for global health security, global pandemic preparedness, and the potential for cooperation on for biorisk and health emergencies.

Roundtable | International Advisory Group on Global Health

On September 7, 2018, the members of the International Advisory Group on Global Health (IAG) gathered in Tokyo, along with Japanese government officials, legislators, experts, and representatives from international organizations, to exchange views on what Japan should prioritize in its global health agenda in order to best utilize the G20 process and the other important upcoming international meetings that are to be held in Japan in 2019 and 2020.

Global Health Diet Roundtable | Evolution of America’s Bipartisan Support for Global Health

JCIE’S inaugural Global Health Diet Roundtable convened six rising leaders in the Japanese Diet who are serving their first, second, or third terms, and it was organized as part of a roundtable series that is designed to engage up-and-coming legislators in discussions of global health and give them a chance to discuss key issues with domestic and international leaders in the field.

UK-Japan 21st Century Group | 35th Conference

The 35th annual meeting of the UK-Japan 21st Century Group convened in Japan on August 31–September 2, 2018. The group held in-depth discussions on a broad range of issues impacting the two countries and their relationship.

Korea-Japan Forum | 26th Meeting

The 26th Korea-Japan Forum met in Tokyo, bringing together more than 50 participants from both countries. The meeting was focused on the 20th anniversary of the 1998 Japan–South Korea joint declaration on “A New Japan-Korea Partnership towards the 21st Century” and how that vision might be revised to ensure stronger and more productive relations in the future.

Japan’s Support for the Liberal International Order | Diet Roundtable & Thought Leaders Seminar

JCIE organized a series of meetings on June 19–20 to explore Japan’s approach to supporting the liberal international order and democratic governance in Asia, including a roundtable with eight leading Diet members and a seminar with policy experts, government officials, journalists, and other opinion leaders.

US-Japan Young Political Leaders Exchange | 2018 Japanese Delegation to the United States

Six legislative and party staffers from Japan visited Washington DC and various locations in Oklahoma and Colorado as part of the 2018 Japanese delegation of the US-Japan Young Political Leaders Exchange Program.

Seminar: NGOs as Strategic Partners in Development and Humanitarian Assistance

This seminar was part of a JCIE project on NGOs as Strategic Partners, conducted from 2015 to 2018. Participants examined what Japanese NGOs and government agencies can do to work together on ODA, drawing on the US experience of fostering strategic partnerships on development and humanitarian assistance to consider steps that can help government agencies and NGOs become true strategic partners.
