VALUES, GOVERNANCE, AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

1997

In April 1997, as part of the Asia Pacific Agenda Project (APAP), JCIE launched a multinational research project on the topic of “Values, Governance, and International Relations” with young scholars from the Asia Pacific region under the guidance of Professor Han Sung-Joo, President of the Ilmin International Relations Institute of Korea University.

This project aimed to examine the interrelations of changing political values and domestic governance with the foreign policy behavior and international relations of countries in the Asia Pacific region. These interrelations were examined from both a country and an issue perspective. The completed papers were presented at a workshop in Yokohama, Japan, in December 1997 and were the subject of a discussion session at the Third Asia Pacific Agenda Project Forum. Prior to that, participants held a preliminary meeting in Tokyo in March 1997.
