Diet Women's Study Group | 2nd Meeting

At JCIE’s second meeting of the Diet Women’s Study Group in Japan, JCIE Senior Fellow Hitoshi Tanaka spoke with the Diet members about critical international security issues and how Japan can position itself against the backdrop of structural changes in both developing and developed nations, populism, and current US-China relations. Tanaka is currently the Chairman of the Institute for International Strategy, Japan Research Institute. He previously served for three years as Japan’s deputy minister for foreign affairs, during which time he was a top advisor to Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi on a broad range of issues, including relations with North Korea, China, Russia, and the United States.
