In celebration of Women’s History Month, this webinar entitled “Global Women in Science | Emerging Voices in US-Japan Cooperation” highlighted the stories of Afshad Jamshaid and Nina Harano—a Pakistani woman in Japan and a Japanese woman in the US—and the challenges they have faced as young women leaders in the sciences.
Virginia Littlejohn, founder and president Quantam Leap, Inc. moderated the event, which featured discussions on how we can encourage more women to enter the sciences and on ways to improve opportunities for women’s education in rural areas.
The webinar was organized by the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) & the OIST Foundation in cooperation with JCIE/USA, the Atlantic Council South Asia Center, and the Japanese Women’s Leadership Initiative (JWLI).
