At the second meeting of the Sunnylands Initiative on Enhancing Democratic Partnership in the Indo-Pacific region (Sunnylands Initiative) in Odawara, Japan, JCIE worked with the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and the Annenberg Foundation Trust to bring together prominent practitioners and scholars from across the Indo Pacific who are working to support democracy. Over the course of the retreat, participants discussed the state of democracy in the Indo Pacific and worked to develop concrete strategies for defending and strengthening democratic governance and human rights.
