JCIE is delighted to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Friends of the Global Fund, Japan (FGFJ) initiative, which encourages multisectoral collaboration and support for the work of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (the Global Fund). Former Prime Minister Yoshio Mori announced its launch at the “Human Security Challenges of AIDS an Communicable Disease in Asia” conference co-hosed by JCIE on March 22, 2004.
Over the past 20 years, the initiative has witnessed Japan’s strong support and leadership in the fight against infectious diseases, including Japan’s 2022 7th replenishment pledge to the Global Fund of up to US$1.08 billion.
