Ahead of Japan’s presidency of the G7 Summit in Hiroshima in May, JCIE co-hosted a special webinar with the Pandemic Action Network (PAN) and the University of Tokyo’s Institute for Future Initiatives to discuss key recommendations from JCIE’s Hiroshima G7 Global Health Task Force on Japan’s G7 global health agenda. Over 150 attendees from multiple sectors joined in on this presentation of these recommendations and participated in a Q&A discussion addressing concrete actions to advance global health in the context of lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, and proposals to strengthen global governance, financing, and systems to ensure that the world is better equipped to prevent, prepare, and rapidly respond to future pandemics.
Participants had an opportunity to reflect, provide feedback, and ask questions regarding the recommendations, as well as explore opportunities to engage world leaders on these issues at the G7 Leaders’ Summit and beyond.
