The JCIE/USA Executive Roundtable is a private discussion series addressing key issues affecting the United States and Japan. The sessions feature leading perspectives from the United States and Japan and take place in an intimate, off-the-record setting where participants can gain insight, raise questions, and exchange ideas with one another. Participants include leaders from the private and public sectors, including our program partners, sponsors, and alumni, and a select group of experts and practitioners who help enrich the conversation.

JCIE USA’s Executive Director, Kazuyo Kato, received the 2025 John & Hiroko Malott Leadership Award on October 11 at the 39th US-Japan Capital Gala hosted by the Japan-America Society of Washington DC.

JCIE USA’s 50th Anniversary Celebration featuring Professor Gerald L. Curtis: Defining a Path Forward for US-Japan Relations in Turbulent Times
JCIE USA will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its efforts to strengthen US-Japan relations with a conversation featuring Professor Gerald L. Curtis, moderated by Jake Schlesinger with Charles E. Morrison as a discussant. The discussion will seek to define a path forward for US-Japan relations, including the roles that lawmakers, corporations, NGOs, and others can play during challenging times.

WEBINAR | Post-TICAD9 and Pre-G20 Summit Briefing on Japan-Africa Partnership
The Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE USA) will host a webinar on October 22 with four distinguished speakers to provide Japanese, US, and African perspectives on Japan-Africa partnership. The discussion will address how a “win-win” partnership can be strengthened through private sector investments and in alignment with the United States. It will also be an opportunity to reflect on the outcomes of Japan’s leadership at the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in August as well as expectations for the G20 summit in November as South Africa prepares to hand over its presidency to the United States.

TICAD9 Event | Africa-Japan Common Vision on Health
On August 21, 2025, JCIE convened globally renowned leaders in health, science, policy, and business from Africa and Japan to introduce and deepen discussions on a Common Vision calling for cooperation on co-creating health security and sustainable growth. The event delivered a compelling message focusing on health as a driver of economic growth and mutual benefit.

FGFJ TICAD9 Thematic Event | Sustainable Health Financing in Africa: From Commitments to Action
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and the Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE)/Friends of the Global Fund, Japan (FGFJ) co-organized a thematic event titled “Sustainable Health Financing in Africa: from Commitments to Action” on the occasion of the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), held in Yokohama in August.
Japan-Korea Forum | 33rd Meeting
The 33rd Japan-Korea Forum, held in Seoul, brought leaders from various sectors together to discuss the current political climate and bilateral relations, the state of Northeast Asia and Japan–Korea cooperation in the era of the second Trump administration, and the implications of global economic realignment for future economic collaboration. The program featured a special session marking the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations. It also featured a Junior Forum for youths from the two countries.
