The JCIE/USA Executive Roundtable is a private discussion series addressing key issues affecting the United States and Japan. The sessions feature leading perspectives from the United States and Japan and take place in an intimate, off-the-record setting where participants can gain insight, raise questions, and exchange ideas with one another. Participants include leaders from the private and public sectors, including our program partners, sponsors, and alumni, and a select group of experts and practitioners who help enrich the conversation.

JCIE USA Briefing & Discussion on Japanese Politics: “Japan’s Upper House Election: Key Takeaways”
JCIE USA will host a private discussion on Japan’s Upper House Elections with three experts from Japan and the United States. In addition to providing an overview of the results in terms of voter turnout, political parties, and women’s political participation, the discussion will seek to identify key factors that came into play and the implications for Japan’s future political leadership and US-Japan relations.

US Congressional Staff Exchange | 2025 Delegation
The 2025 US Congressional Staff Exchange Program gave 6 Congressional staffers the chance to travel Japan, where they met with Japanese leaders across politics, media, and academia.

US-Japan Legislative Exchanges with the Mt. Fuji Dialogue Delegation
Charles E. Morrison, former president of the East-West Center, a member of the JCIE USA Board of Trustees, and a collaborator on various research and dialogue programs with JCIE for more than four decades, was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, for his contributions to promoting academic exchanges and mutual understanding between Japan and the United States.

Members of ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR) Visit Japan
JCIE hosted members of ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR) to Japan under our Democracy for the Future Program for meetings with Japanese legislators, Civil Society groups and the Media.

2025 Women Leaders Delegation to Japan
The US-Japan Women Leaders Dialogue brought a bipartisan duo of state legislators to Japan for briefings and roundtables on US-Japan trade and security ties and on women’s empowerment in politics and business in Japan.

FGFJ Presents Leadership Awards at Reception to Welcome Global Fund Executive Director Peter Sands
Friends of the Global Fund, Japan hosted a reception on March 4, 2025, on the occasion of Global Fund Executive Director Peter Sands’ first visit to Japan in two years. On this occasion, an awards ceremony was also held to honor Japan’s leadership in fighting the world’s three major infectious diseases, recognizing five individuals and organizations from various sectors.
