The JCIE/USA Executive Roundtable is a private discussion series addressing key issues affecting the United States and Japan. The sessions feature leading perspectives from the United States and Japan and take place in an intimate, off-the-record setting where participants can gain insight, raise questions, and exchange ideas with one another. Participants include leaders from the private and public sectors, including our program partners, sponsors, and alumni, and a select group of experts and practitioners who help enrich the conversation.

JCIE’s Team on Healthy Aging in Asia at the Prince Mahidol Award Conference 2026
JCIE’s team working on healthy aging in Asia co-hosted side meetings and events at the Prince Mahidol Award Conference (PMAC) 2026, which had as its theme “Demographic Transition.” JCIE’s events included a special launch session for the 5th Round of the Healthy Aging Prize for Asian Innovation (HAPI).

FGFJ Convenes Joint Diet Task Force Meeting & Advisory Board Meeting
FGFJ convened a joint meeting of the Diet Task Force and Advisory Board to review the 8th Replenishment Round of the Global Fund. The meeting aimed to pursue a possible top-up by the Government of Japan during Grant Cycle 8 and to secure new financial resources for health-related ODA.

2025 Briefing Series | Japan’s Global Leadership in a New Era of US-Japan Relations
2025 marked a new era in US-Japan relations under political leadership transitions in both countries. In this context, JCIE USA organized a series of three online discussions to explore Japan’s domestic political developments and its engagement in key regions of the world to assess Japan’s standing as a global leader as well as the implications for US-Japan relations.

Foreign Residents in Japan & The Role of Japanese NPOs
JCIE USA conducted a 9-month project from January 1-September 30, 2025 focused on Japanese NPOs that support foreign residents. Through background research and interviews with a select group of Japanese NPOs, the project identified their key challenges, how they collaborate with other stakeholders, and the insights they are seeking from international experience, particularly the United States.

Implications of Demographic Transition: An ASEAN–Japan–US Dialogue on Security, Innovation, and Regional Cooperation in an Aging Asia
On December 16, JCIE USA hosted a virtual ASEAN–Japan–US dialogue featuring experts from Japan, the United States and Thailand to discuss security, innovation, and regional cooperation in an aging Asia.

San Diego County Delegation Participates in US-Japan Healthy and Resilient Aging Exchange
Community leaders from San Diego County visited counterparts in Tokyo and Kumamoto Prefecture to share best practices and insights into the shared challenge of better coping with aging populations, with a special focus on disaster prevention, response, and resilience for older people.
