Welcome Reception in Honor of Leaders from the National Diet of Japan

A coalition of US-Japan groups headed by JCIE and the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation hosted a reception at the US Capitol to welcome 11 visiting Diet members to Washington. The gathering attracted about 150 leading figures in US-Japan relations, including members of Congress, their staff, government officials, Japan experts and other policy analysts, business leaders, foundation leaders, journalists, and NGO representatives. Congressman Mark Takano offered welcoming remarks to start the event off, followed by a greeting from Minister of Education Yoshimasa Hayashi and a toast by recently appointed Ambassador Shinsuke Sugiyama.
