FGFJ | UHC Forum 2017 Side Event: Reaching the Underserved and Vulnerable–TB Responses as a Pathway to UHC

The Friends of the Global Fund, Japan (FGFJ) co-organized an official side event on the sidelines of the UHC Forum 2017. This side event explored how the TB response and the strategies to advance UHC can be aligned and leveraged to reach underserved and vulnerable populations and accelerate progress toward UHC.

JCIE and the FGFJ teamed up with the Health and Global Policy Institute to organize a symposium on corporate engagement in global health. Peter Sands, the new executive director of the Global Fund, visited Japan from April 23–24, 2018, participating in meetings with the Friends of the Global Fund, a symposium co-organized by JCIE and the International AIDS Society on “Ending AIDS by 2030: Science, Community, and Political Commitment,” and a roundtable with CSO leaders (co-organized by the Africa Japan Forum and FGFJ).

FGFJ | MTV Public Service Announcement on HIV/AIDS with Japan’s First Lady

A public service announcement (PSA) featuring Japan’s First Lady Akie Abe speaking out on HIV/AIDS has just been released online and is being aired on MTV channels in Japan and across Asia. In collaboration with the MTV Staying Alive Foundation, Mrs. Abe is appealing to young people to “join us in breaking the silence” in order to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS in Asia, which has the second largest AIDS-related death toll after sub-Saharan Africa.
