Final Conference of the Global Health Multistakeholder Dialogue

JCIE co-hosted the hybrid final conference of the Global Health Multistakeholder Dialogue: From Hiroshima to Puglia (GHMD) in Tokyo, Japan. About 120 experts, half of whom joined from overseas, gathered to consider priority challenges to be addressed by the Italian G7 in 2024 and recommend possible solutions to make our society more resilient to future pandemics.

10 Years after 3/11: Reflecting on Lessons Learned

On March 11 2011, a magnitude 9.1 earthquake struck off the coast of Japan’s Tohoku region, followed by hundreds of aftershocks and a devastating tsunami. JCIE quickly launched efforts to support the international response by serving as a bridge between overseas donors and Japanese groups working in the disaster zone, facilitating coordination among American and Japanese humanitarian organizations, and disseminating information and analysis to support responders. We have highlighted some of the vital lessons learned from the international response efforts.
The Biden-Suga Summit: Cooperation to Enhance Support for the ACT Accelerator

On April 16, 2021 President Joseph Biden of the United States and Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga of Japan held a meeting in Washington DC. The two exchanged opinions on important issues between the United States and Japan, including the US-Japan alliance and regional security, climate change, and measures to tackle the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2019 US-Japan Parliamentary Exchange Program brought the 30th delegation of Japanese diet members and parliamentarians to the US, where they met and engaged in discussions with members of Congress and their staff, journalists, and policy experts.
Japan’s Support for the Liberal International Order | Diet Roundtable & Thought Leaders Seminar

JCIE organized a series of meetings on June 19–20 to explore Japan’s approach to supporting the liberal international order and democratic governance in Asia, including a roundtable with eight leading Diet members and a seminar with policy experts, government officials, journalists, and other opinion leaders.
