Five NGO leaders and three Diet members came together for a roundtable to discuss how to strengthen Japanese NGOs’ institutional capacity to work as strategic partners with the the government on development and humanitarian affairs. They discussed how to advance US-Japan cooperation and make the NGO sector in Japan more effective.

In 2007, JCIE launched a study and dialogue project aimed at developing a deeper understanding of the complex dynamics of the China-Japan-US trilateral relationship. The project leaders held a series of planning meetings throughout the spring of 2007, and the first paper writers workshop was convened in Tokyo on October 14–16, 2007.

Korea-China-Japan Forum

The Korea-China-Japan Forum was held in November 2003 as a joint initiative of JCIE, the Korea Foundation, the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, and the Japan Foundation Asia Center. This dialogue aimed to promote cooperation among the three countries in achieving stability in the Asia Pacific region and encouraging its further development.

Jiro Murase Memorial Seminar

On Monday, October 27, JCIE organized a major seminar on the future direction of US-Japan relations in memory of the late Jiro Murase, the longtime president of JCIE/USA and a key figure in bilateral relations over the past half-century.

JCIE Organizes Side Meetings to Advance Global Health Dialogue at TICAD7

JCIE co-organized three official side events during TICAD7, building on the momentum of the week to advance policy dialogue around key global health issues such as sustainable financing of universal health coverage (UHC), the challenges of aging in Africa, and the health worker shortage that remains a major bottleneck to UHC and economic growth.

Japanese-German Forum | 9th Forum

The 9th Japanese-German Forum met in Berlin on February 3–5, 2001. The Forum organized five sessions, and discussed the impact of changes in the international environment and the prospects of two countries; the problems of the aging societies; and stronger relationship between two countries in the future.

Japanese-German Forum | 8th Forum

The eighth meeting of the Japanese-German Forum was held in Tokyo on February 5–7, 2000. Thirty-seven members of the Forum gathered to discuss political and economic trends within Japan and Germany; common challenges posed by demographic changes and the future of social security in the two countries; and international issues such as regional security.
