FGFJ | Prime Minister Kan Opens Access to Life Photo Exhibit

On September 3, 2010, Prime Minister Naoto Kan opened a special launch event for the Tokyo exhibition of a joint photographic project by Magnum Photos and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. This exhibit documents the impact of antiretroviral treatment on the lives of people living with AIDS around the world and is designed to give a human face to the global effects of the disease.

TV Celebrity JOY Joins FGFJ for a World Tuberculosis Day Special Interview

For World Tuberculosis Day, the Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE)/Friends of the Global Fund, Japan (FGFJ) released a special interview with TV personality JOY, who contracted tuberculosis in 2011. He suffered from the disease for several months before fully recovering and was later appointed as the “Stop TB Volunteer Ambassador.”

Friends of the Global Fund, Japan Commemorates 15th Anniversary

The Friends of the Global Fund, Japan (FGFJ) welcomed more than 150 participants at its 15th Anniversary Event, which was held at The Classic House, Akasaka Prince, in Tokyo. The participants included parliamentarians from various parties, parliamentarians, government officials, the health sector and other non-health areas of the private sector, academia, NGOs, media, and students.

SwitchPoint Shibuya was a networking event that sought to foster innovative partnerships and approaches to tackling some of the world’s greatest humanitarian issues around health challenges in Africa by bringing together a younger generation of leaders in support of public healthcare workers and inventive approaches to service delivery.

FGFJ | New Global Fund Executive Director Peter Sands Visits Japan

Peter Sands, the new executive director of the Global Fund, visited Japan from April 23–24, 2018, participating in meetings with the Friends of the Global Fund, a symposium co-organized by JCIE and the International AIDS Society on “Ending AIDS by 2030: Science, Community, and Political Commitment,” and a roundtable with CSO leaders (co-organized by the Africa Japan Forum and FGFJ).
