JCIE Announces Grantees for Supporting Youths of Diverse Roots and an Inclusive Society Program

In the hopes of opening the doors to a brighter future for young people of foreign origins who are living in Japan, JCIE has launched a major grant program, Supporting Youths of Diverse Roots and an Inclusive Society (YDRIS).

JCIE held its first networking Conference as a part of the Supporting Youths of Diverse Roots and an Inclusive Society Program. About 30 participants from the eight organizations implementing the selected projects attended to deepen their understanding of the activities of each participating organization and the significance and network of the Diverse Roots, Inclusive Society program.

Responding to the Needs of Older People During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Sharing Lessons Learned

This webinar shared lessons from the United States on how the epidemic has impacted older persons, particularly those in long-term care facilities and offered a platform to share observations on the US experience—including both challenges and best practices—and compared that with the experience to date in Japan and Malaysia to draw out lessons that can inform policy for the COVID-19 pandemic and for future outbreaks as well.

The 33rd annual meeting of the UK-Japan 21st Century Group convened in Japan on October 6–9. The group held discussions on a broad range of issues that affect the two countries and their relationship.

Korea-Japan Strategic Dialogue 2016

At a recent meeting of the Korea-Japan Forum, it was suggested that a smaller group of key opinion leaders be convened to examine the issues in greater depth. As a result, JCIE and the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) held the inaugural “Korea-Japan Strategic Dialogue” in Tokyo on June 8–10, 2016.
