Global Health Diet Roundtable | Update on the Regional COVID-19 Situation

On April 21, JCIE held its Fifth Global Health Diet Roundtable where more than a dozen Diet members were briefed on the current global COVID-19 situation by World Health Organization (WHO) Western Pacific Regional Director, Takeshi Kasai. Dr. Kasai highlighted the importance of more well-thought-out testing strategies as well as the need for international cooperation on the global shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Briefing on the ACT-Accelerator at the Special Session of the Executive Committee on Global Health and Human Security

On May 19th, ten leaders of the global health organizations that comprise the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator, as well as Ambassador Carl Bildt, WHO Special Envoy for ACT-Accelerator, joined the Special Session of the Executive Committee to explain how this unprecedented global health partnership is helping develop and equitably distribute critical COVID-19 tools.

JCIE’s Noriyuki Ishiyama Ran in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay!

Noriyuki Ishiyama of the Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE) / Friends of the Global Fund, Japan (FGFJ) was selected as a torchbearer for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and ran in the Torch Relay on Saturday, May 1, in Okinawa Prefecture as one of eight members of “The Global Fund – from Okinawa” team.

Health and Human Security in the Americas

On September 6-7, 2012, JCIE organized a public seminar and workshop on “Health and Human Security in the Americas” in Lima, Peru, in partnership with the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO). The meetings build on the discussions at JCIE’s “Health and Human Security in Africa” seminar and follow PAHO’s 2010 resolution to integrate the human security concept into member countries’ national health plans.

SYMPOSIUM | Restructuring Post-COVID Global Health Governance through Global Solidarity: The Role of G7 & G20

Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE) and the Tokyo University Institute for Future Initiatives (IFI) are conducting a research project on “The International Order and Japan’s Role in the COVID and Post-COVID Era” sponsored by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Japan. The research group aims to produce policy recommendations to MOFA at the end of March on Japan’s future strategy on global health as Japan prepares to host the G7 meeting in 2023.
