On September 29, JCIE organized a lecture on “Global Governance and Human Security” with Ambassador Yukio Takasu, who most recently served as permanent representative of Japan to the UN (2007–2010). About 80 participants from domestic and international NGOs, academia, the media, and the public sector attended the lecture.
Global Conference on Universal Health Coverage for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth

The World Bank and the Government of Japan organized a major conference with JCIE in Tokyo in December 2013, convening close to 200 health ministers and high-level representatives from around the world. Discussions were based on a set of case studies of Japan and other countries’ experience with universal health coverage.
G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit Follow-up | International Conference on Global Action for Health System Strengthening

A high-level international conference was convened in Tokyo on November 3–4, 2008, to explore the creation of a global strategic framework for strengthening health systems in developing countries around the world, with a particular emphasis on clarifying the role of the G8 in the field.

At this side event to the 2016 Prince Mahidol Award Conference (PMAC), members of JCIE’s Global Health Working Group (GHWG) presented their draft policy recommendations for the G7 Ise-Shima Summit in May 2016 with an emphasis on governance for global health in response to and in preparation for health crises.

Dissemination Seminars in the United States—Global Action for Health System Strengthening

Two dissemination seminars for Global Action for Health System Strengthening were organized in Washington DC, one on March 17, 2009, that was organized in collaboration with the Center for Global Development (CGD) and which targeted experts from think tanks and US government agencies, and another on March 19, 2009, in collaboration with InterAction, which targeted representatives of humanitarian and development NGOs.

Corporate Symposium on Challenges in Global Health—New Opportunities for the Private Sector

Leading members of the corporate, philanthropic, and health sectors gathered in Tokyo on July 27, 2010, for a JCIE symposium entitled “Challenges in Global Health: New Opportunities for the Private Sector.” The discussion was aimed at exploring ways for Japanese corporations to play a key role in addressing global health challenges by effectively engaging with international organizations working in the field.
