Tadashi Yamamoto Memorial Seminar | The United States and Japan in Asia

The 2nd Tadashi Yamamoto Memorial Seminar, held in Washington DC by the Council on Foreign Relations and JCIE, brought together nearly 70 foreign policy specialists from the United States, Asia, and Europe to discuss the role of the US-Japan alliance in a changing Asia and the vision that key players hold for the region’s future.

Korea-China-Japan Forum

The Korea-China-Japan Forum was held in November 2003 as a joint initiative of JCIE, the Korea Foundation, the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, and the Japan Foundation Asia Center. This dialogue aimed to promote cooperation among the three countries in achieving stability in the Asia Pacific region and encouraging its further development.

Japanese-German Forum | 17th Forum

The 17th Japanese-German Forum was held in Berlin on November 25–26, 2008. The thirty-five participants in the forum gathered to discuss political and economic trends within Japan and Germany and opportunities for closer cooperation between the two countries.

New Award for Innovations in Aging

JCIE, together with the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia, launched a new award program to recognize innovative approaches in Asia to the various challenges facing aging populations in the region.

Investing in Healthy and Active Aging for Sustainable Growth—A Regional Approach to Promoting Innovative Long-Term Care

JCIE was among the co-organizers of a multistakeholder forum to address the challenges facing Asia Pacific due to aging populations. The forum drew over 260 people from 27 economies in the region, representing parliamentarians, government officials, and representatives from international organizations, civil society organizations, and the private sector.

Development of Web-based Platform on Aging in Asia for AHWIN

In light of Asia’s massive demographic shift, the Japanese government launched the Asia Health and Wellbeing Initiative (AHWIN) in 2016. Under the auspices of the Cabinet Secretariat of Japan, JCIE has worked with ERIA to launch the AHWIN website, which will serve as a platform for disseminating key data and resources on aging in Asia and sharing best practices to respond to this demographic shift.
