JCIE worked closely with the World Bank and Ministry of Finance of Japan to organize side seminars on cutting-edge topics in global health and UHC at the IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings held in Tokyo in October 2012.
Japan Visit and Diet Meetings of Dr. Peter Piot

Prof. Peter Piot, the former head of UNAIDS and current Director of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, paid a visit to Japan in fall 2014, during which time JCIE coordinated several of his meetings, including a breakfast meeting with nine members the Parliamentary Caucus on the Promotion of Human Security and a visit to a Tokyo community center that carries out AIDS prevention initiatives.
Roundtable | International Advisory Group on Global Health

On September 7, 2018, the members of the International Advisory Group on Global Health (IAG) gathered in Tokyo, along with Japanese government officials, legislators, experts, and representatives from international organizations, to exchange views on what Japan should prioritize in its global health agenda in order to best utilize the G20 process and the other important upcoming international meetings that are to be held in Japan in 2019 and 2020.
Global Health Roundtable | Human Resource Development and the Future of Africa

On July 14, 2009, Professor Miriam K. Were, first laureate of the Hideyo Noguchi Africa Award, visited Tokyo for a series of meetings with global health experts and a roundtable with Japanese leaders from various sectors. Professor Were is chairperson of the Kenyan National AIDS Control Council and co-founder and chairperson of the UZIMA Foundation of Kenya.

Global Governance and Human Security Seminar

On September 29, JCIE organized a lecture on “Global Governance and Human Security” with Ambassador Yukio Takasu, who most recently served as permanent representative of Japan to the UN (2007–2010). About 80 participants from domestic and international NGOs, academia, the media, and the public sector attended the lecture.
Global Conference on Universal Health Coverage for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth

The World Bank and the Government of Japan organized a major conference with JCIE in Tokyo in December 2013, convening close to 200 health ministers and high-level representatives from around the world. Discussions were based on a set of case studies of Japan and other countries’ experience with universal health coverage.
G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit Follow-up | International Conference on Global Action for Health System Strengthening

A high-level international conference was convened in Tokyo on November 3–4, 2008, to explore the creation of a global strategic framework for strengthening health systems in developing countries around the world, with a particular emphasis on clarifying the role of the G8 in the field.
